75 Years Together: Russia and China to Further Develop Relations

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Hanhui met in Moscow.

“This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. Russian-Chinese relations have great potential, and their further development is the key to ensuring the fundamental interests of our peoples and the guarantee of stability throughout the world,” noted Anton Kobyakov.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of joint initiatives in the following key areas: agriculture, automobile, coal and ore mining industries. The parties also agreed to hold a number of events that will promote mutual understanding of cultural traditions and values in all spheres.

According to the participants of the meeting, the traditional Russia–China Business Dialogue can help strengthen the mutual integration of economic and investment interests of Russia and China. The event will be held as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on 5–8 June 2024.

An important part of the meeting was the discussion of preparations for the BRICS 2024 Summit to be held in Kazan on 22–24 October.

“Under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries, Russian-Chinese relations are developing at the highest level. I would like to note that the Russian Federation’s chairmanship of BRICS creates great opportunities for its member countries to develop important international economic, regulatory, social, and cultural initiatives. Last year, the volume of bilateral trade reached a record 240 billion dollars. I am convinced that next year we will increase these achievements by concentrating our efforts in the most promising areas of cooperation. In order to further strengthen the partnership, the Chinese side is sending a delegation to participate in SPIEF,” said Zhang Hanhui.

A separate topic of the meeting was cooperation in the field of innovation and quantum technologies. The parties agreed to exchange experience in this area and agreed on the participation of PRC representatives in the Future Technologies Forum, an annual flagship event that presents technologies and innovative scientific developments that determine the vector of development of economic sectors in the coming years.
