The pharmaceutical industry is one of the priority focuses for development of the national social policy, the economy, and the global market. Given Russia’s current foreign policy challenges and desire to be independent of imports, the country’s advanced pharmaceuticals are trending upwards in terms of developing and applying innovative technologies and IT solutions to automate key economic sectors, develop promising biotechnologies, and create effective new types of medicines. In 2023, Russian pharmaceutical companies demonstrated steady growth and accounted for more than 36% of the national market in rouble terms, concentrating not only on the production of safe and high-quality medicines – generics – that the population needs due to the forced substitution of imports, but also on the production of unique modern endocrinological, neurological, rheumatological, antibacterial, and other drugs. How has the Russian national pharmaceutical market changed over the past year? What challenges does the pharmaceutical industry face in terms of providing the population with high-tech medicinal products? What measures could encourage private investors to invest in the shares of pharmaceutical companies? What biotechnologies will drive the development of the modern pharmaceutical industry in the near future? How can we effectively use IT technologies and artificial intelligence to develop new drugs? Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promomed Group, medical doctor. Petr Bely has more than 25 years of experience in the medical sector and has held senior positions in a number of large pharmaceutical companies. In 2005, he established the Promomed company and in a few years turned it into one of the most dynamically growing players in the Russian pharmaceutical market. Petr Bely regularly participates in scientific forums, conferences and other industry events. He is the author of numerous scientific publications. In March 2021, he was awarded the Pirogov Order for his merits in the field of drug production.

Prior to joining Gazprombank Denis worked as a Managing Director of Barclays in London (2003-2012) heading Russian investment banking and lately CIS public sector. During this time, Barclays became the #1 bookrunner for Russian Eurobonds (2010) and was among top-3 bookrunners for a number of consecutive years.
