EAEU–ASEAN
The year 2023 marks the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on economic cooperation, as well as the 5th anniversary of the Russia–ASEAN Strategic Partnership. The ongoing structural transformation of the global economy necessitates a higher degree of integration and interaction within these associations, thereby expanding the potential for cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and ASEAN on the international stage. This aspect remains at the forefront of the dialogue between these integration associations, with the aim of creating additional incentives to deepen and diversify cooperation across all aspects of the trade and economic agenda. These areas include the circular economy, energy efficiency, industry, food security, logistics, digital technologies, and tourism. By establishing closer contacts between the EAEU and individual ASEAN countries, including the negotiation of free trade agreements, mutual trade is boosted and ties between business communities are strengthened. What are the emerging opportunities for cooperation between the EAEU and ASEAN in the new economic reality? What is the envisioned economic cooperation between these two associations by the year 2030? How can digital transformation play a role in addressing pressing issues within the joint integration agenda? Which infrastructure projects, including areas such as transportation, logistics, digital advancements, and international settlements, will contribute to the growth of trade and economic ties between the member states of the two integration alliances?
