Carbon Regulation and Creation of the Market for Carbon Units Circulation in the Countries of Asia, Africa and the Middle East

15 Jun , 15:00–16:15
The World Economy at a Global Turning Point
Pavilion G, conference hall G4

Low-carbon energy is emerging as a major catalyst for manufacturing development across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. At the same time, the associated challenges have triggered a shift in current approaches, driven by the principles of sustainable development, resulting in a new industrial super-cycle. These transformative changes bring forth both challenges and opportunities. While economic restructuring and investments in technological upgrades, as well as new methods of international cooperation to combat climate change, necessitate significant investments for companies, the goals have been set, and the initial successful outcomes are already appearing on the strategic planning horizon. What are the prospects for establishing a single international carbon market within the framework of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement? How is the government-business partnership implemented in the context of the carbon market? How is the business sector responding to the introduction of carbon regulation mechanisms? Can sustainability standards from one country be implemented in other countries? What are the main problems, barriers and future prospects for the implementation of climate projects? Could the carbon market serve as a new platform for interaction between countries?
