One of the most significant business events in the world - the XXVII St.Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) - took place from June 5 to 8, 2024 The Russian videoconferencing system VINTEO was used for remote connections of speakers and participants of the Forum's business program.

For the business program sessions, including video connections, 34 conference halls were used in the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center, with 68 conferences running simultaneously on the VINTEO video conferencing server. At the same time during the days of the Forum in each conference room different types of users were constantly connected - halls, remote participants and simultaneous interpreters.

Simultaneous interpretation was provided directly from the VINTEO video conferencing server (the functionality is based on the work with audio channels, with the possibility of intelligent control and adaptation to any scenario), in the main halls in 2 languages (Russian and English), and in separate halls - in Chinese, Portuguese, etc.).

Remote participants connected to video conferencing sessions through a specially developed web-interface in different ways - via WebRTC technology (through an Internet browser), as well as from video terminals via H.323 and SIP protocols.

For centralized control of air halls and settings of audio channels of simultaneous translations, a video conference monitoring system developed by the Forum organizer based on the API of the VINTEO video conference software server was used. The system allows monitoring the situation in all conference halls from a single point (central control room), with prompt notifications about changes in video conferencing operation. The interaction between VINTEO and on-air equipment of conference halls was also established.

To evenly distribute the load on video conferencing servers, the functionality of control and distribution of conference rooms in the VINTEO cluster was used, which allowed to effectively manage the movement of conference rooms, avoiding the overload of individual servers of the event.
