Preparations for fifth Eurasian Forum discussed in Moscow

On October 12, a press conference on “Integration processes in the Eurasian space: the importance of dialogue between the EU and the EAEU” took place in Moscow, with the participation of Conoscere Eurasia Association President Antonio Fallico, Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev, and Eurasian Economic Commission Board Member and Minister in charge of the Development of Integration and Macroeconomics Tatiana Valovaya.

The participants spoke on the preparations for the fifth Eurasian Forum, to be held in Verona, Italy on October 20–21, 2016.

The slogan for the fifth Eurasian Forum is “The Art of Innovation”. As it stands, more than 600 participants from countries in Greater Eurasia have confirmed their attendance, including state officials, business leaders, political and public figures, diplomats, experts, and journalists from Armenia, Belarus, China, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, South Korea, and elsewhere.

The event will be divided into two thematic sections: “Geopolitical processes in Greater Eurasia” and “Innovations as everyday creativity”. Particular attention will be paid to new models of economic cooperation in the context of global crisis, as well as to interregional cooperation. Notable sessions in the business programme include “The geopolitical map of Greater Eurasia in movement”, “Economics and finance and the global crisis”, “New models of economic cooperation in the context of global crisis”, “Innovation infrastructure in Greater Eurasia”, “Agriculture and agribusiness – new frontiers”, “Interregional cooperation as an engine of development”.

According to Stuglev, this year’s Eurasian Forum will feature a substantial discussion agenda on innovative development and geopolitical processes in Greater Eurasia.

“We have built strong partnerships with the Italians. We have been successfully cooperating for a number of years on implementing joint initiatives: we are working together to promote the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (June 1–3, 2017), and we jointly organize the Eurasian Forum in Verona,” said Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev. “This year’s Eurasian Forum will feature a substantial discussion agenda on innovative development and geopolitical processes in Greater Eurasia. The topical themes and speakers will, we believe, help to make the event practical and useful for both government representatives and business figures from throughout the Eurasian region.”

President of the Conoscere Eurasia Association Antonio Fallico noted that the upcoming fifth Eurasian Forum in Verona (Italy) is intended as a platform where politicians, leading business people, and experts from Italy, Russia, and other countries of Greater Eurasia can exchange views on a wide range of issues. “The fifth Eurasian Forum in Verona is tasked with making a qualitative leap forward in the discussion of issues related to building a Greater Eurasia,” he said. “It is currently the only discussion platform of its kind in Europe for what is a vital topic. The Forum enables participants from Greater Eurasia to share information on their positions, interact, and identify new solutions together. This is especially important in the current climate.

According to Fallico, the Eurasian Forum is also important for entrepreneurs who are looking to move into the international market, given that it helps people to establish contacts with potential partners, understand the state of various markets in Greater Eurasia, and gain a picture of the demand that exists.

“The challenges of the global economy dictate the need to establish an economic partnership between the EAEU and the EU as part of a Greater Eurasia,” said Valovaya.
