SPIEF 2019 Organizing Committee Met

On 15 August 2018 a meeting was held on the preparation and holding the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The meeting participants summed up the SPIEF 2018 and outlined the key focus areas of the preparation for the Forum of 6–8 June 2019. Among other things, the terms of participation and the strategy for promoting the Forum, as well as the preparation of the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre and the city's infrastructure were discussed.

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Anton Kobyakov noted, “Preparations for SPIEF is no less work than actually holding it. The advertising campaign includes a number of events: field sessions, industry-specific round tables. SPIEF international promotional campaign consists of events in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Australia. The conclusions of the field sessions lay the groundwork for the SPIEF business programme. Participation in those provides a fair opportunity to present business and economic potential of Russian regions to foreign investors, to demonstrate Russia’s export potential and search for new markets.”

President of OPORA RUSSIA public association for small and medium-sized enterprises Alexander Kalinin expressed gratitude to the Organizing Committee for the efficient cooperation in setting up venues for discussing new opportunities to develop small and medium-sized businesses, as well as ways to expand their contribution to the country’s GDP together working towards a greater goal of ensuring economic growth. Alexander Kalinin especially emphasized the significance of international cooperation, which gives access to the world’s best practices in supporting entrepreneurship and to sharing our experiences. “Through collaborative work of the authorities, development institutions and business associations such as OPORA RUSSIA, our country has created some of the best conditions for business regulators over a short period of time.”

The key conclusions of public discussions of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018 were also presented at the meeting. The document contains a description of the topics discussed, current issues of the development of Russia, international cooperation, society, digitalization, and ways to address these issues.
