Rosseti Group Engineers Prevent Technical Failures in SPIEF 2019 Power Supply

Rosseti Group specialists ensured an uninterrupted supply of power to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held in St. Petersburg from 6 to 8 June 2019. The forum was attended by more than 19,000 people from 145 countries, 6 heads of state, and the UN Secretary General. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin also participated in the Forum.

Power engineers were on duty round-the-clock at key power grid facilities providing power to the forum, and a situational and analytical center was operating directly at the ExpoForum site. Thanks to the comprehensive preparation of the energy sector, not a single technological failure took place during SPIEF 2019.

It should be noted that this year, the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre saw a record power consumption of 11.7 MW, which is 42% (8.25 MW) higher than the maximum consumption at SPIEF 2018. In order to ensure reliable power supply to Forum events, 24 teams numbering 80 people and 18 equipment units were involved at the central site.

Preparations for SPIEF 2019 were made at the SPIEF 2019 power supply regional headquarters headed by Andrey Mayorov, Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of Rosseti, in cooperation with the Government of St. Petersburg and the Roscongress Foundation.
