Roscongress and ASEAN Business Advisory Council agree on cooperation

The Roscongress Foundation and ASEAN Business Advisory Council signed a memorandum of understanding on 13 November 2018 on the sidelines of the Russia- and East Asia Summit in Singapore during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit. The document was signed by the Roscongress Foundation Chairman of the Board and CEO Alexander Stuglev and by the Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Robert Yap. The two organizations agreed to cooperate in establishing effective communication between expert communities and business circles of the Russian Federation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The memorandum envisages cooperation in the development of common communication platforms at the international level in order to promote interaction between business organizations and a continuous dialogue on joint work in investment, export and import activities as well as tourism and cultural interaction. In addition, the document calls for holding joint business events with an economic and social focus in Russia and abroad.

“The memorandum has significant importance. The document we signed will consolidate the strong ties that have already been established between Russia and ASEAN and also allow for the exchange of experience regarding congress and exhibition events. I am confident that the agreement will result in effective and productive joint work”, Advisor to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov said.

Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Robert Yap said: “The ASEAN BAC plans to collaborate with Roscongress Foundation to further strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and Russia, exchange delegations to develop new links and partnerships between our business communities”.

ASEAN countries traditionally have great interest in building a dialogue on the sidelines of leading economic forums held in Russia, including the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, which will run from 6 to 8 June 2019, and the Eastern Economic Forum, which will take place on 4–6 September 2019. Further steps were planned for expanding business contacts between Russia and ASEAN, and new points of growth were outlined for the development of cooperation in a wide range of areas such as the trade, economic, financial, and humanitarian spheres. Interaction and constant contact within the framework of key business events in Russia will help to strengthen and develop full-fledged cooperation.
