First ‘Russia/Eurasia–Caribbean: A New Dawn’ Forum in 2017

‘A New Dawn 2017’ is the first ever discussion platform devoted to open dialogue between representatives from Russia/Eurasia and the countries of the Caribbean Basin. The Forum will take place from November 1 to 3, 2017 in Grenada on the sidelines of the country’s chairmanship of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and to mark the fact that, in 2017, Grenada became the first nation in the region to open an embassy in Moscow.

Confirmed participants in the event include delegates from Russia, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Grenada, Cuba, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, and Jamaica.

The Forum venue will be a meeting place for representatives from organizations and institutions actively engaged in developing partnerships and cooperation between Russia/Eurasia and Caribbean countries, including: the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg State University, Kazan Federal University, the Skolkovo Foundation, Smolensk Kristall Diamonds, Sandals Beaches Resort, Century 21 Grenada, Bunker Capital, Koblev and Partners Law Firm, Grenada Postal Corporation, and Influence Group. Countries will also be represented by leading media organizations, in particular, from Russia – Russia 24, Izvestia, and Kommersant; and from the Caribbean – THG Network International, The Voice St. Lucia, Antigua Chronicle, BVI News, and News Room Georgetown.

The concept for the Forum was developed by the Government of Grenada, the Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas (IBBA, Montevideo, Uruguay), and the Roscongress Foundation.

IBBA and the Roscongress Foundation have previously organized joint events: between 2015 and 2017, three Latin American sessions were held at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and in 2016 the first SPIEF regional session in the south of the New World was held in Montevideo.

As co-organizer of the Forum, the Roscongress Foundation will provide comprehensive assistance in organizing events and help to strengthen international cooperation in academia, business, and the media.

The ‘Russia/Eurasia–Caribbean: A New Dawn 2017’ Forum will offer an outstanding platform for efforts aimed at expanding and improving business interactions and developing business relationships.
