The Roscongress Foundation organized a visiting session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024 in Turkey

An event under the auspices of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held in Istanbul with the participation of representatives of the Roscongress Foundation, government authorities, specialized associations, and businesses. The main theme of the visiting session was ‘SPIEF 2024: Expanding promising avenues of business cooperation between Russia and Turkey’.

The experts discussed the trend of expanding co-operation between the Russian and Turkish markets against the backdrop of global changes. The participants of the event considered options on how to minimize risks when developing new markets and turn modern challenges into profitable opportunities for the development of their business.

The speakers included Andrey Buravov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul; Izzet Ekmekcibasi, Head of the Turkey–Russia Business Council; Alexander Stuglev, Chairman and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation; Evgenii Efremov, Deputy Trade Representative of Russia in Turkiy – Istanbul Branch Head; economist Artunç Kocabalkan; Alexander Makarov, General Director of traceCORE; Alexander Radkevich, founder and CEO of AR Solutions; Nelli Vladimirova, Deputy Commercial Director for Business Development in Turkey, FESCO; Cumhur Guzelciftci, Head of Russian Division at Albayrak Holding; and Ivan Starodubtsev, Development Director at Zecurion, Rossoft representative in Turkey, and Head of the Information Technology Committee of the Russian-Turkish Dialogue Association.

“Turkey and Russia continue to develop diplomatic and economic relations with high strategic potential. Our countries share many years of cooperation experience in implementing successful joint projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Expanding avenues of cooperation has a positive impact not only on interstate relations, but also provides opportunities for mutually beneficial investment and successful business development,” emphasized Andrey Buravov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul.

“The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is an event that plays a key role in the development of Russian-Turkish business relations. Thanks to the participation of Turkish business in SPIEF, we will be able to achieve a qualitatively new level of mutually beneficial cooperation in the conditions of global transformation in the shortest possible time,” noted Alexander Stuglev, Chairman and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is one of the largest and most significant business events in the world. Over the past 26 years, the Forum has earned the status of the world’s leading platform for discussing key issues of the global economy, establishing cooperative ties, and sharing best practices and competences to ensure sustainable development. During the Istanbul meeting, an emphasis was placed on the business climate of Russian-Turkish cooperation, development of an effective investment approach, partnership in the field of technological development, building logistics routes and port efficiency strategies in the new economic realities. The panellists also discussed the possibilities of implementing Russian digital solutions and new technologies in Turkey to protect the Turkish market from unfair competition, secure government revenues and fight tax evasion and fraud.

“Turkey and Russia are strategic partners. However, Turkey is not only one of Russia’s key partners in the foreign trade sphere, but also a source of capital investment in the Russian economy. We are witnessing how initiatives aimed at promoting investment projects and trade and economic relations are coming to the forefront, creating opportunities for businesses in the two countries,” said Izzet Ekmekcibasi, Head of the Turkey–Russia Business Council.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held in St. Petersburg on 5–8 June 2024.
