Agreement between Roscongress Foundation and Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed at SPIEF

An agreement has been signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum between the Roscongress Foundation and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI). Putting pen to paper were Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev and QCCI board member Ali Abdul Latif al Misnad. The agreement outlines plans for the organizations to work together on building effective links between the expert and business communities of the two countries.

“Roscongress is taking active steps to work with the international community. We are interested in developing shared communication platforms at an international level in order to spur increased interaction between nations across various spheres. This agreement will enable us to establish long‑term partnerships with representatives of the State of Qatar, and also to send more delegations to key business events in both countries. In addition, a meeting took place in February this year between Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Minister of Finance of the State of Qatar Ali Shareef Al Emadi. There, an agreement was made to hold a SPIEF session in Doha in February 2020 and a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation,” said Stuglev.

The agreement sets out initiatives in a number of areas. These include organizing bilateral and multilateral events in the energy, economic, and social sectors, particularly forums, conferences, roundtables, business meetings, expos, and presentations.

“This agreement with the Roscongress Foundation will facilitate dialogue between our countries on partnership in investment and finance, export and import, and tourism and culture. Qatar will be guest country at next year’s SPIEF. This is a great honour for us, and we are grateful to the Foundation for such an opportunity,” said Ali Shareef Al Emadi.

Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Qatar. 2018 was also designated the Qatar–Russia Year of Culture, with a large number of events taking place in Moscow. These provided people in Russia with the opportunity to find out about Qatar’s distinct history and culture.
