St.Petersburg Seasons Festival

In 2024, Russia is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the full liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. The exhibition features an interactive map of Leningrad from 1935, highlighting key industrial production sites in the city. Each site is accompanied by materials from the electronic collection of the Presidential Library (documents, books, research, images). The exhibition aims to showcase over 70 factories and plants that operated in the besieged city at various times.

A special section will be dedicated to the activities of the Bolshevik plant (Obukhov State Plant). During the Great Patriotic War (World War 2), the plant repaired military equipment and produced weapons and ammunition.

The goal of the exhibition is to tell the story of the heroic labour of Leningrad’s industrial enterprises during the difficult years of the Nazi blockade, using materials from the electronic collection of the Presidential Library and documents provided by Obukhov State Plant.

The Fabergé Museum is one of the most popular museums in the city.

The museum is based around the world’s largest collection of masterpieces by Carl Fabergé. Its greatest treasure are the nine Easter eggs created by the masters of the Carl Fabergé firm for the last two Russian emperors. All of them are masterpieces of jewellery art and unique historical monuments associated with the reign and personal lives of Emperors Alexander III and Nicholas II.

Today the collection of the Fabergé Museum contains more than 4 thousand exhibits, which also includes other areas in which the Fabergé firm worked: fantasy objects, jewellery, silverware, interior decorations and church items.

The exhibition ‘Pushkin’s Lukomorye’, timed to coincide with the 225th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin, is dedicated to five famous works written by the poet in 1820–1830 which are considered to be the gold standard for Russian fairy tales: The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish; The Tale of the Golden Cockerel; The Tale of Tsar Saltan, of His Son the Renowned and Mighty Bogatyr Prince Gvidon Saltanovich and of the Beautiful Swan-Princess; The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights; and The Tale of the Priest and of his Worker Balda.

The online exhibition’s ‘Russia to the World’ multimedia project presents a retrospective of Russian and Soviet scientific development and introduces the great scientists and achievements upon which an entire civilization would be built.

Visiting the art gallery of the outstanding sculptor and artist Vyacheslav Chebotar gives visitors a lasting feeling of light, joy, and pride in our great national classical art. The gallery will exhibit a polyptych dedicated to Alexander Nevsky. The grand opening is due to take place on the territory of the Lavra on 12 September 2024, which will be the 300th anniversary of the transfer of the saint’s relics to the Lavra.
During the visit, a lottery will be held among visitors for the chance to spend time with the master and create a portrait.

The museum is home to monuments of world culture dating back to the first centuries of Christianity. Its exponents include icons, pilgrimage relics, parts of the relics of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, and Saint Constantine the Great, works of painters, as well as artefacts of Old Believer art centres.

The secular part of the collection features original paintings by Quentin Matsys, Jacob Adriaensz Backer, Peter Paul Rubens, and Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn.

The Museum of Christian Culture is a unique multimedia complex. Its creators set the goal of expanding the classical perception of the exposition that many people know so well. Kupetz Eliseevs Food Hall in St. Petersburg is the main gastronomic attraction of the city, a monument of ‘northern art nouveau’ and the first shopping and entertainment complex of the Russian Empire, which opened its doors to customers over 100 years ago. Opened in 1902 by Grigory Eliseev, a merchant, entrepreneur, philanthropist, State Councillor, the trading house of the ‘Eliseev Brothers’ partnership worked as a store of colonial goods, delicacies and foreign wines, as well as a theatre and a restaurant for visitors. Almost the entire historical interior of the shop’s sales area has been preserved and is under state protection as an object of cultural and historical heritage of federal importance. Kupetz Eliseevs Food Hall houses Russia’s first museum of the history of the Eliseev merchants, which presents their personal belongings, letters, archive materials, a collection of antique items and the store's unique photo collection of 150 unpublished photos.

For the eighth time especially for SPIEF in the Elena Tsvetkova Gallery, the Contemporary Heritage of Russia project will present the works of the most unique contemporary artists: masters of arts and crafts, awarded with diplomas of the State Treasury and the leading museums of the country. Luxury in all its manifestation is designed to surprise and delight the viewer.
You will see magnificent embroideries in silk and gold, various types of mosaics, the most complex carvings from mammoth tusk, the finest vases and bouquets of moulded porcelain, sculptures, virtuoso painting by miniature painters on enamel-guilloche, stone, mother-of-pearl and papier-mâché, precious stones, skilful works of jewellers and much more. These works have been exhibited in Gokhran, the Moscow Kremlin Museum, the Diamond Fund of Russia, the State Historical Museum, the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts Pavlovsk and other museums around the country and the world.

As part of the SPIEF 2024 cultural programme, the Unified Contractor in the Construction Sphere company invites Forum participants to see how the world-famous Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory is being renovated. The new building is set to be officially unveiled during the second half of 2024.
During the tour, Forum participants will be given a unique opportunity to view the Conservatory’s late 19th century interiors, originally created by architect Vladimir Nikolya, and now recreated using historical technologies and materials. For the first time, the public will be able to see the paintings in the Chapel, by famous artist Andrei Ryabushkin, which were thought to have been lost, but were discovered during the current restoration work.
The area covered by the renovation is 31,000 metres. The state contractor for the work is Unified Contractor in the Construction Sphere, and the general contractor is Polytekhstroy-Svargo.
Tours will be conducted by professional restorers from the general contractor company twice daily, at 10:00 and at 17:00, throughout SPIEF, which takes place on 5–8 June 2024.
The entire route around the construction site is equipped in accordance with health and safety standards, and all participants will be provided with personal safety equipment (hard hats and fluorescent safety vests).

The Russian Museum of Ethnography is one of the largest ethnographic museums in the world. Its collection includes about 500,000 exhibits.
The museum's expositions allow to see the unique object world of peoples living in the vast expanses of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Siberia and Central Asia. It preserves cultural monuments of 157 peoples of Russia and neighbouring countries.
The Russian Ethnographic Museum is located in a building constructed in the style of Russian neoclassicism. The jewel of the building is the Marble Hall. It was conceived as a memorial hall in honour of Emperor Alexander III. The peculiarity of this monumental structure with an area of about 1000 square metres is the use of only domestic pink marble for decoration. On the perimeter of the Marble Hall there is a high relief frieze depicting representatives of various peoples of the Russian Empire. The sculptors placed on it many figures forming genre scenes from the life of numerous peoples of the Russian Empire, creating a collective image of Russia and emphasizing the idea of ethnic diversity, richness and variety of cultures of the peoples inhabiting it.

The St. Isaac's Cathedral Monument Museum is one of the most significant art museums in Russia, which enjoys fame around the world. St. Isaac's Cathedral is a unique monument of Russian architecture and one of the most outstanding cathedrals in Europe. It is an exceptional example of Russian church art. Decoration of the cathedral includes the largest collection of Russian monumental paintings of the mid 19th century, totalling more than 150 works. Among them are works by famous artists Vasily Shebuev, Karl Bryullov, Fyodor Bruni. Over 300 statues, sculptural groups and reliefs were made by Ivan Vitali. More than 60 mosaic works by Russian masters play an important role in the artistic and decorative ornamentation. Of undoubted interest is one of the largest stained-glass windows in Russia with an area of 28.5 square metres.

The BRICS National Brands exhibition dedicated to the cultural identity of the BRICS countries will open in St. Petersburg on 6 June. The event is timed to coincide with the start of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The exhibition will be held in the historic building of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts on Vasilievsky Island. Semyon Mikhailovsky, Russian art historian, architectural historian, curator and rector of the Russian Academy of Arts, was the author of the exhibition concept.
The organizers of the exhibition explore the phenomenon of cultural identity of the BRICS countries in the context of globalization and cross-cultural communication. Aspects of cultural identity are revealed in two exhibition spaces:
‘The World of Nature. The Country Brand’ will showcase works created by an international team of young sculptors and artists representing the BRICS countries, students of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts;
‘Films about Men, Deeds, Dreams and Happiness’ will screen the most striking films by documentary filmmakers from the collection of the Gosfilmofond of Russia.
The evening reception will include a performance by Russian baritone, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Vasily Gerello. Murmansk Region as the event partner will introduce the guests of the reception to modern Arctic cuisine, surprising them with its gastronomic combinations and the skills of the region’s chefs.

The Suvorov State Memorial Museum is a museum dedicated to the memory of Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov. It was founded in St. Petersburg in 1900 to mark the centenary of the commander's death.

The Roerich Family Museum Institute is located on Vasilievsky Island, in the old mansion of Academician Botkin that Nikolai Roerich visited many times. The basis of the memorial display of the Museum is the heritage preserved by Helena Roerich’s niece Lyudmila Mitusova and her family. Over several years, the owners of private collections have donated a number of art pieces and other exhibits to the museum. To date, its collection numbers about 15,000 items, including personal belongings, manuscripts, paintings, decorative and applied arts, archaeological artefacts, photographs and other cultural treasures reflecting the broad context of the Roerich family’s life and work.

The St. Petersburg Art Fair 1703 is hosted by PJSC Gazprom and
endorsed by the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture. It has
been a regular early summer event during the SPIEF week since
2022 when the fair was born. The project is aimed at

community.
This year the number of participants grew to 45 Galleries are
divided into 4 sections depending on their focus, providing
visitors an easy navigation route across best practices in

Russia's first museum dedicated to the history of Russian theatre. The museum's collection includes 450,000 exhibits telling the story of drama, opera and ballet art during its existence in Russia. The museum is located in the former building of the Directorate of the Imperial Theatres, part of the architectural ensemble of Ostrovsky Square, designed by Karl Rossi in the 19th century.

The Hermitage houses works of art from different eras and nations: the ancient Orient and Egypt, the Middle Ages in Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and Russia. There are halls devoted to Spain, France, England, Germany, Holland and many other countries. But one of the most important places is occupied by the halls dedicated to the art of Italy. The jewel and pride of the collection are works by the most famous masters of the Renaissance: Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Raphael, Michelangelo and others.

The Peter and Paul Fortress is the "heart" of St. Petersburg: it was here on 27 May 1703 that the new city, the future capital of the Russian Empire, was laid out by the will of Peter the Great. Today the Peter and Paul Fortress is one of the cultural and scientific centres of St. Petersburg. The fortress houses museum expositions dedicated to the history of the city, the St. Petersburg Mint, and the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the first cathedral of the Northern Capital, which for 200 years was the burial place of the Russian emperors of the Romanov dynasty.

The Priory Palace, a unique earthen building created in 1798–1799 by architect Nikolai Lvov for the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem (Order of Malta), is unique in its architectural design and technical implementation. The exposition of the Priory Palace tells about the Order of Malta and its connection with the Russian Empire at the time of Emperor Paul I.

Gatchina Palace is a country imperial residence closely associated with the likes of Paul I and Alexander III.
In the 18th century palace, you can see the restored ceremonial interiors of Paul's time, including the Upper Throne Room and the Parade Bedroom, as well as stroll through the romantic underground passage and experience the famous Gatchina echo.

The exhibition showcases masterpieces of Oriental manuscripts. The IOM RAS collection is one of the largest in the world, and the biggest in Russia, comprising more than 115,000 exhibits in 65 dead and living languages. This unique collection is housed in the sumptous interiors of the Novo-Mikhailovsky Palace, a striking example of 19th century palace architecture.

The Arctic and Antarctic Museum is the only museum in Russia dedicated to both polar regions. The museum is located in the building of the former St. Nicholas Church. The exposition is presented in 3 sections: "Nature of the Arctic", "History of research and development of the Northern Sea Route", and "Antarctica". Here you can see personal collections of researchers, expedition equipment, unique devices, models of ships, dioramas.

The Nabokov Museum launches excursions along a new route in the vicinity of the writer's house. Those who wish will be able to follow the footsteps of Nabokov's childhood memories and learn more about the neighborhood at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The walking part of the tour is dedicated to the key places for the Nabokov family. The walk will start at 47, Bolshaya Morskaya, which was given to Vladimir Nabokov's parents as a dowry in 1897 and where the writer himself was born in 1899. The visitors will plunge into the history of the street, which is the same age as St. Petersburg itself. They will visit St. Isaac’s Square, which used to be Mariinskaya Square when the Nabokovs used to live here, and where little Volodya used to walk with his governess. Your guide will cover the story about the Mariinsky Palace, where meetings of the Provisional Government, of which Vladimir Nabokov, the writer's father, was a member, took place. The participants of the walk will be told what role the Astoria Hotel played in the events of the February Revolution and how it affected the Nabokov family. After the excursionists will go to Pochtamtskaya Street, where once stood the church where the Nabokovs baptized their eldest son Vladimir. The final point of the walking tour will be Bolshaya Morskaya: the visitors will be told about the history of House No. 47, its architecture and the changes it has undergone for almost 300 years.
The second part of the tour will take place in the Museum of Vladimir Nabokov which was opened on the ground floor of the family mansion. Visitors will see the museum exposition with memorial items belonging both to the writer's family and directly to Vladimir Nabokov, as well as partially preserved interiors of the dining room, the Green Drawing Room and the library.

During the open readings, researchers of the great poet's body of work will make speeches and his poems will be recited. The participants will be presented the only surviving copy of the last lifetime edition of Pushkin kept in the Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts of the Scientific Library of SPbSU and its history will be told. The edition of Novels and Stories, 1837 was printed during the poet's lifetime and printed after his death.

During the tour, visitors will learn about the history and architectural features of the Synod Building, constructed in the second quarter of the 19th century by the renowned architect Carlo Rossi. The tour will also cover the main activities of the Presidential Library, which is Russia's largest state electronic repository of digital copies of essential documents on the history of Russian statehood. Additionally, the library serves as a multifunctional cultural, educational, scientific, and information and analytical centre, holding the status of a national library of Russia.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore the electronic collection of rare editions, documents and materials on the topic of 'The Russian State and Economy.'
An exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Russian Military Historical Society, will also be available for visitors, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the full liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. The exhibition will highlight how the memory of the defence and siege of Leningrad is preserved across generations. Items on display will include artefacts from the first exhibitions dedicated to the Battle of Leningrad, organized in 1944 – ‘The Heroic Defence of Leningrad’ and ‘Svir Victory’ (Lodeynoye Pole). These will include photographs, original paintings, and items created by participants in the battles.
The contemporary section of the exhibition will feature large-scale projects by the Russian Military Historical Society and the Presidential Library aimed at perpetuating the memory of the blockade. It will also present the latest scholarly works and documents, discussing the blockade as a genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union.

On 6 June 2024, Concept Fashion Day will take place in the Atrium of the Commandant's House on the territory of the Peter and Paul Fortress. This landmark event in support of Russian fashion manufacturers and young designers is held for the second time on the initiative of Concept Group, a federal clothing retailer (part of Sistema Group), and this year is included in the cultural programme of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum for the first time.
The project is aimed at promoting the domestic fashion industry, creating favourable conditions for cooperation between representatives of the fashion market and other industries and supporting young professionals. The event will bring together business and creativity, art and technology, young specialists and the experience of market leaders to demonstrate the achievements and prospects of the light industry, the potential and role of Russian designers and clothing manufacturers in the development of Russia's creative economy.

At the evening show running as part of the Russian Concept Fashion Day, guests will be able to see the latest collections of Concept Club, ACOOLA, RASKROI brands, as well as capsules created together with young designers. The show will be staged by director Sergei Lukovsky, known for his ability to turn any fashion show into an amazing spectacle.

Guests at an immersive eco-show may enjoy collections by Russian designers who create distinctive designs without harming the planet. The event, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, is not just about fashion: it is a creative statement about the need for conscious consumption and respect for the environment.

The show will be the final event of the Russia–Africa conference, Water: More Precious than Gold, which will take place on 5–6 June during SPIEF.

Baroque music in Venezuela finds a valuable space for artistic development thanks to the new Simon Bolivar Baroque Orchestra (OBSB) under the musical direction of Maestro Boris Paredes.

Officially founded in January 2015, it is the first orchestra of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela "El Sistema", which brings young people closer to the historical interpretation of symphonic music and performance with elements typical of the instruments of the time, such as the baroque bow, vein strings and 415 Hz tuning. The Orchestra is made up of musicians from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, as well as a group of talented and enthusiastic musicians who are committed to the interpretive and stylistic development of such a beautiful art form.

"Eugene Onegin" by the author's definition is a novel in verse, which combined the way of life, culture and nature of vast Russia, idealistic aspirations of romantic heroes and the unevenness of their fates, encounters with awe-inspiring feelings, as well as bitter inability to recognize possible happiness and passing of true love. Vissarion Belinsky said it best: “Onegin" is the most heartfelt work of Pushkin, his most beloved brainchild. One couldn’t point out too many works of art in which the personality of the poet would be reflected with such a fullness, light and clarity, as Pushkin’s personality is reflected in "Onegin". It contains all of his life, all of his soul, all of his love; here are his feelings, concepts, ideals.” The theatre has decided to present the audience with the power and tenderness of Pushkin's Word, combining its sound with the great music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Melodies from the operas "Eugene Onegin" and "Queen of Spades", the ballet "Swan Lake", the piano cycles "Seasons" and "Children's Album" and symphonies will be performed. On stage, the voices of the Lensoveta Theatre masters reading the pages of the novel will enter into dialogue with the Capella Symphony Orchestra.
