Alexey Vladimirovich Ostrovskiy was born on the 14th January 1976 in Moscow.
Education:
In 2000 he graduated from Moscow State Open university (occupation: world economy). In 2003 he graduated from Moscow State University of international relations by Ministry of foreign affairs (occupation – law and legislation)
Professional achievements:
1991-1994 – worked as a journalist in leading russian and foreign mass-media.
1994-2003 – assistant of the Head of Liberal Democratic party in the State Duma, Head of the secretariat of the deputy chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V. V. Jirinovskiy.
2003 – 2007 – Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of 4th convocation (2004-2007), deputy chairman of the Committee of the State Duma on information policy, deputy chairman of the Committee of the State Duma on international affairs, member of the Committee of the State Duma on mandate issues and terms of deputy ethics, member of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on providing human rights and fundamental freedoms, control on the provision of the above mentioned issues in foreign countries.
2007 – 2011 – Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of 5th convocation (2008-2011), Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma on CIS affairs and interaction with compatriots.
12.2011 – 26.04.2012 - Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of 5th convocation (2008-2011), Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma on the affairs of non-government associations and religious organizations.
On 26th April 2012 Alexey Ostrovskiy became the Governor of Smolensk region.
On 18th May 2015 he was assigned as acting Governor of Smolensk region.
On 28th September 2015 Alexey Ostrovskiy took in charge as the Governor of Smolensk region.
Married, has three daughters.
