Dmitry Medvedev invites SCO representatives to the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi and SPIEF

Sochi hosted a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on 1 December 2017. The meeting participants discussed intensifying cooperation for the further development of the SCO. They paid particular attention to the problem of effectively utilizing the potential of the SCO both on security issues and on matters concerning economic interaction.

The accession of India and Pakistan to the SCO has strengthened potential for cooperation. In the course of exchanging views, the participants underscored the need to increase interaction with observer states, dialogue partners, and international organizations.

Speaking at the meeting, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also noted the importance of international economic forums to search for promising partners for business and the development of interregional cooperation.

The Chairman of the Russian Government invited SCO representatives to the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi on 15­–16 February 2018 and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on 24–26 May 2018.

“We need to further strengthen the authority and role of the SCO in the global economy. We would be thrilled to see representatives of the SCO and leading Russian and foreign entrepreneurs at the major economic forums held in our country. The Russian Investment Forum will be held very soon, in mid-February, here in Sochi, and the St. Petersburg Economic Forum will be held in May. Of course, I invite everyone to take part”, Dmitry Medvedev said in his speech.
