Sergei Guriev graduated summa cum laude from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1993. In 1997 - 1998, he held a postdoctoral position at MIT; in 2003 - 2004, taught at Princeton University. He has published in the leading international journals, incl. American Economic Review, American Political Science Review, and Journal of European Economic Association. In 2006, Dr. Guriev was selected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, in 2011 he joined WEF’s Global Agenda Council on Europe. In 2009 and 2010, he was included in the top 100 of the President of Russia’s Cadre Reserve. He is a board member of Sberbank, Russia Venture Company, Alfa Strakhovanie, Russian Home Mortgage Lending Agency, and the Dynasty Foundation. He is a member of the President of Russia’s Council on Science, Technology and Education, of the Advisory Council of the Peterson Institute for International Economics (Washington, DC) and of the Scientific Council of BRUEGEL, a Brussels-based economic policy think tank. The New Economic School is a graduate school of economics established in 1992. In the Social Science Research Network ranking, NES is ranked #70 economics department in the world and #1 in non-OECD countries.

Lloyd is chairman and chief executive officer of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. He joined the J. Aron Currency and Commodities Division of Goldman Sachs in 1982 after working as an attorney. Lloyd was named partner in 1988 and co-head of the J. Aron Division in 1994. He became co-head of the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities Division in 1997 and was based in London in 1998 and 1999. Lloyd served as vice chairman of Goldman Sachs from 2002 through 2003, with management responsibility for the FICC and Equities Divisions. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities, he served as the firm’s president and chief operating officer from 2003 through 2006. Lloyd earned a JD from Harvard Law School in 1978 and an AB from Harvard College in 1975. Among his affiliations with nonprofit organizations, Lloyd is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at Harvard Law School, a member of the Dean’s Council of Harvard University, a member of the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management and an overseer of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He resides in New York City with his wife and children.
