Business under Protection: Further Efforts to Build a Favourable Business Climate

16 Jun , 10:30–11:30
The Russian Economy: From Adaptation to Growth
Congress Centre, zone B, 2nd floor, conference hall B2

In the current unfavourable political and economic environment and changes in the federal structure of the country, it is especially important that we pay attention to issues revolving around the protection of the rights of bona fide Russian and foreign entrepreneurs and investors, and the ongoing creation of a business-friendly environment in the country. In a situation characterised by the disruption of production and logistics chains, restrictions on the export and import of goods, and exchange and lending rate volatility, businesses have to adapt fast and reorient their operations to occupy niches that have remained following the departure of foreign companies. To stabilize the economy, the Russian government has taken unprecedented measures to support entrepreneurial initiatives through the provision of subsidies and grants, new soft lending programmes, loan deferrals, tax breaks, a moratorium on inspections and much more. How can we improve the investment attractiveness of the country as a whole and its regions? What is the role of prosecutors in the new system of government-business relations? How will the digitalization of inspection processes help business? What problems are foreign investors experiencing? What business-protection practices are employed in foreign countries?
