Better at Home: How to Get Young People Involved in the Regional Economy

16 Jun , 09:00–10:00
Protecting the Population and Quality of Life as the Main Priority
Congress Centre, zone B, 2nd floor, conference hall B1

Involving young people in the socio-economic development of their home regions is a key aspect of the domestic policy of the Russian Federation. The active participation of young people in economic processes contributes significantly to the effective and comprehensive development of the region and enhances Russia's intellectual and technological potential. To support young professionals and entrepreneurs and to encourage them to create new and innovative solutions, relevant ministries, regional governments, state corporations, private businesses and non-profit organizations are now implementing a range of support measures such as accelerators, educational courses, grant programmes, competitions and events. However, despite all the diverse support measures available, the existing programmes do not adequately cater to the majority of regional youth and fail to fully address the issue of involving young people in the economic growth of their home region and the nation as a whole. How to increase opportunities for youth engagement in the life of regions? What barriers to social and economic inclusion are seen as most significant? What steps can establish interaction between a region's young people, executive authorities, leading organizations and city-forming enterprises? What federal and regional programmes have already proven to be effective in addressing these issues?
