CPC was established in 1992 for construction of a 1511-km pipeline to transport crude oil from fields in western Kazakhstan, Russia and Caspian shelf.

In 2011, CPC completed the expansion of its pipeline system throughput from 28 MMTA up to 67 MMTA. Nord Stream 2 AG
